Shooting victim has minor spinal injury
Alberta highway shooting victims remembered Shayna Conway continues to recover in hospital after being shot three times in a highway murder-suicide. (CBC)More than 200 people came out to participate in a fundraising run Saturday in Charlottetown for the sole survivor of last month's murder-suicide that took place along a highway south of Calgary.

A five-kilometre run and three-kilometre walk were organized by staff and students at Charlottetown Rural High School, where Shayna Conway — currently recovering from multiple gunshot wounds in an Alberta hospital — graduated a few years ago.

The run raised more than $3,000 for Conway and her family.

Last week she was reported to now be able to stand and walk with assistance.

Four others died in the roadside Dec. 15 murder-suicide outside Claresholm.

They included three young people shot in Conway's SUV: Mitchell MacLean, 20, and Tanner Craswell, 22, both promising baseball stars with the Lethbridge Bulls of the Western Major Baseball League who were also from P.E.I, and Tabitha Stepple, 22, Conway’s friend from work.

Conway and her friends had left Lethbridge and were on their way to the Calgary airport to drop off the two baseball players, who were returning home for the holidays, when their vehicle was rammed off the road and they were shot.

The gunman, Stepple’s former boyfriend, then killed himself.

Organizers of Saturday's fundraiser said they wanted to let Conway know they were thinking of her and they will continue to do so as she recovers.
